Sandra Bullock is reportedly concerning about divorcing Jesse James, she is terrified he will make her a bad reputation.
The Oscar-winning actress - who has been left devastated by allegations the motorcycle enthusiast cheated on her with at least four other women - has allegedly told friends their almost five-year marriage is over but is scared to call in the lawyers as she's worried he will get his revenge.
A source said: 'The main reason Sandra has not filed divorce papers yet is because she doesn't want to trigger Jesse into attacking her publicly and revealing her secrets.
'Sandra is one of the most private actresses in Hollywood. And the last thing she wants is Jesse out there talking about her and talking about her marriage. She's been worried that if she drops divorce papers on him now he'll want revenge and will try to harm her reputation.
'His behaviour is so erratic that she doesn't want to send him over the edge.'
Jesse - who has publicly apologised to his wife and admitted he deserves 'everything bad' which may come from his 'bad judgement' - is currently in rehab receiving treatment for sex addiction but is keen to save their marriage.
However, Sandra, 45, has ignored his pleas although she wants to avoid a nasty public divorce.
The source added to RadarOnline.com: 'Sandra is a very private person and always has been. She keeps a close group of friends that keep her secrets. She doesn't want an angry ex-husband revealing things she wants to keep private.
'During the past several weeks she's had several phone calls with Jesse and he's pleaded with her to stay married. But he's also grown angry when she wouldn't agree. And that's what has her worried and has frozen her into inaction.
'She believes that Jesse would be so angry by divorce papers that he would destroy the privacy she's fought so hard to maintain.'

Jim and Jenny have decided to end their 5 years relationship and they are grateful for the past 5 years of being together. 
Jim Carrey, 48, announced the split via twitter.
"Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I'm grateful 4 the many blessings we've shared and I wish her the very best! S'okay!," The comedy man Carrey, 48, wrote on Twitter.
Jenny also reveals the news of their split on Twitter, saying she was 'grateful' for their time together and would continue to be 'committed' to his daughter Jane, 22.
She said: 'I'm so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.'
In February, Jenny revealed her excitement at the birth of Jim's daughter Jane's first son Jackson.
She said: 'I think I'm going to be an awesome grandma, the world's best is what I say.'
Jenny, the former Playboy model claimed last month, she would marry Jim for tax purpose.
She said: 'We say 'never', but I don't know. Maybe for tax purposes, someday, when we are old. That's why we keep joking - like, when we are 70! But for now, we're fine. We are really fine!'
Jim has been married twice before, first to waitress Melissa Womer - Jane's mother - with whom he split from in 1995, and to his 'Dumb and Dumber' co-star Lauren Holly, which lasted less than a year after they tied the knot in 1996.
Jenny was previously married to actor-and-director John Mallory Asher in 1999.

Tiger Woods the world number one was scolded by Augusta National over his sex scandal. On Wednesday the eve of the 74th Masters - Billy Payne - Augusta National Golf Club chairman said Tiger Woods "disappointed all of us" with his epic sex scandal.
"Our hero did not live up to the expectations of the role model we saw for our children," Payne said. "He forgot in the process to remember that with fame and fortune comes responsibility, not invisibility."
Putting his golf career on hold to try and save his marriage to wife Elin, Woods will make his return from a five month layoff in Thursday's opening round at Augusta National championship
After the wake of Woods' sex scandal, there are more than a dozen women who have claimed to have sexual affairs with Woods, which have brought apologies to friends, family, supporters and fellow golfers as Woods tries to move past the scandal.
"It is not simply the degree of his conduct that is so egregious here. It is the fact that he disappointed all of us, and more importantly, our kids and our grandkids," Payne said of a four-time Masters winner in unprecedented remarks.
"Is there a way forward? I hope yes. I think yes. But certainly his future will never again be measured only by his performance against par, but measured by the sincerity of his efforts to change."
"We at Augusta hope and pray that our great champion will begin his new life here tomorrow in a positive, hopeful and constructive manner, but this time with a significant difference from the past," Payne said.
"This year, it will not be just for him, but for all of us who believe in second chances."
Woods has won 14 major titles, four shy of matching the all-time record set by Jack Nicklaus.
Payne was especially emphatic that Woods avoid selfishness and do all he can to redeem himself in the eyes of his youngest followers, those who might not even comprehend the depths of his wrongdoing in the affairs.
"As he ascended in our rankings of the world's great golfers, he became an example to our kids that success is directly attributable to hard work and effort," Payne said.
"I hope he realizes every kid he passes on the course wants his swing, but would settle for his smile. I hope he can come to understand life's greatest rewards are reserved for those who bring joy to the lives of other people."
Woods has said he is spending more time in meditation and returning to the Buddhist religious instruction emphasized by his mother Kultida, who is from Thailand, with hopes of regaining the trust of all supporters.
Payne, who said he had spoken to Woods and that Woods attended the champions dinner on Tuesday, added that he wanted Woods to understand that "life's greatest rewards" come from helping others.
While extra security and other measures were taken into account to prepare for Woods making his return at Augusta National, Payne said the tournament was never concerned about being overshadowed by that comeback.
"We don't look at things that way. We're very secure in who we are," Payne said. "We do things our way. We're not threatened by big news stories, things like that."
