Judge lays down law in custody case
The increasingly acrimonious custody battle between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline progressed yesterday with a judge handing the couple a list of rules they have to follow in order to keep custody of their children.
The couple, who currently have joint custody of sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1 were ordered to adhere to rules governing their travel – neither is allowed to take the children out of the state, and their behaviour towards each other – they're not allowed to make derogatory comments about one another.
Singer Britney was singled out for additional rules as the court heard she was a ' habitual, frequent, and continuous user of controlled substances'. She has to meet the following additional conditions:
- Attend individual counselling at least once a week to address parenting issues.
- Meet with a parenting coach for a minimum of 8 hours a week, in at least two sessions a week. The coach is to observe her parenting skills and her interaction with her sons and provide Kevin with a written progress report.
- Based on the evidence presented, the Court found that there is a habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances by Britney, and she will have to undergo testing for controlled substances and alcohol. The testing shall be conducted twice per week on random dates and times, and the results will be forwarded to the court.
